It is with great sadness that we are having to announce the closure of The Jellied Eel. Unfortunately the decision is out of our hands, and it is something that we are unable to have any influence over. We are of course devastated, having built it up from our initial short pop up in 2018 to being listed at number 7 in Time Out’s Top 50 Bars in London.
We’re so grateful to all of you who have come and made the place what it was. We’ve shared so many laughs, so many great moments, and of course so many cocktails with you all. We have loved being a part of the local community, and we’re so sad not to be able to reopen at a time when we all need those moments more than ever.
We’d love to find another venue, if not for The Jellied Eel then for something else, so please do stay in touch via our mailing list and social media just in case.
We are going to continue doing bottled cocktails for a few weeks until we have got rid of our stock, so please do snap up what are now collector’s items! The ones that don’t need refrigeration will last indefinitely.
Finally, I’d like to thank all our staff past and present who are the absolute best, and who have always gone above and beyond to create something special, and also Tim, Jackie and all the staff at Manze’s who have been so gracious and welcoming to us.
With love and gratitude
Paul and all at The Jellied Eel x
The Jellied Eel is a unique cocktail bar located in the Grade II listed, Art Deco interior of Manze’s pie and mash shop on Walthamstow Market. We’re open every Friday and Saturday night for inventive cocktails, gourmet croquetas and delicious Mediterranean small plates. The beautiful and historic interior and intimate wooden booths are a perfect match for a quiet drink or a raucous birthday celebration, and everything in between. On warm evenings, our secret courtyard garden is a cool escape for an al fresco cocktail.
